City players can learn from ´incredible´ Zinchenko – Guardiola

Pep Guardiola has heaped praise on full-back Oleksandr Zinchenko and said the rest of his Manchester City players could learn a thing or two from the Ukraine international.

Zinchenko, who joined City from Ufa in 2016, appeared on the verge of joining Wolves at the beginning of the season but stayed at the Etihad Stadium and has made 16 appearances in all competitions.

The 22-year-old played the full 120 minutes as City won the EFL Cup final on penalties against Chelsea on Sunday.

Guardiola has been impressed by Zinchenko s attitude in training and his response to limited first-team opportunities in the Premier League.

Incredible is the only thing I can say, said Guardiola.  Oleks has showed me again what I thought before; the importance and the valu…

Monaco join Sevilla in chase for Bacca

Ligue 1 champions Monaco have joined Sevilla in the race to sign Colombia striker Carlos Bacca from AC Milan.

Bacca scored 14 goals in 34 appearances for the Rossoneri last season but is set to fall foul of the squad overhaul at San Siro which has seen Andre Silva, Fabio Borini and Hakan Calhanoglu swell the attacking ranks.

Having enjoyed two goal-laden seasons with Sevilla before signing for Milan, Bacca favours a return to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, but Monaco s interest comes with guaranteed Champions League football attached as well as linking up with his international captain Radamel Falcao.

The principality club are set to receive an estimated €180million if they sanction the sale of Kylian Mbappe and may already be seeking out potential replacements for…

Bundesliga Review: Dortmund misery continues, Hamburg smash goal drought

Borussia Dortmund remain bottom of the Bundesliga after another loss, while Hamburg emphatically ended their goal drought against Paderborn.

Borussia Dortmund s miserable Bundesliga season shows little sign of easing as they suffered a 1-0 defeat at home to surprise-package Augsburg on Wednesday.

Jurgen Klopp s men were arguably the better side during the first half but still found themselves behind five minutes after the break when Raul Bobadilla pounced on a loose ball inside the area to slot home.

The visitors were reduced to 10 men 14 minutes later when Christoph Janker hauled down Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang with a professional foul on the edge of the area, allowing the hosts to increase the pressure.

However, the 2011 and 12 champions could not fi…

Celtic s march to the Scottish Premiership title stumbled after crashing to a 1-0 home defeat against St Johnstone on Wednesday.

On-loan Coventry midfielder Danny Swanson ended the champions eight-match winning run in the league with a spectacular 54th-minute volley.

It was a big set-back. It is disappointing, but it s happened now and we have to learn from this and it s four days before we can make it good again,  Deila told BBC Radio Scotland.

Nothing is finished and we

make it difficult for ourselves. This is not good enough.

There were some tired players out there, but we should be better as a unit. …
